[Original Article]It appears it's "Game On". New Zealand's largest jobsite, 100% Kiwi Owned www.myjobspace.co.nz has started promoting Fanuary, by all accounts it looks like the female version of Movember. However you see it, there is a purpose, raising funds for a worthy cause, awareness of gynaecological cancers.
"We are happy to be promoting Fanuary and are collecting donations via our website to raise awareness about symptoms and treatments for all gynaecological cancers.." Says organiser Rebecca Harris from myjobspace.co.nz.
There are six different gynaecological cancers, the most well know is cervical cancer as well as ovarian cancer, cancer of the fallopian tubes, cancer of the vulva, cancer of the vagina and cancer of the Uterus. Fanuary, along the same lines as Movember, which successfully raises funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer among men, is all about bodily hair, starting from scratch on the 1st of January 2008 and having a work of art by the 31st. To use the words of the emails currently flying around our great nation "Women let their fannies grow freely."
Rebecca Harris says "We saw an opportunity to support a worthy cause, we have nationwide contacts, networks and resources at our fingers tips and the facilities to co-ordinate a fundraising venture, so why not put all of this to good use to promote the awareness of gynaecological cancers."
People interested in raising the awareness of gynaecological cancers and becoming part of Fanuary can check out www.myjobspace.co.nz where you will find categories to enter, registration information and facilities to make donations.
People who have enquiries regarding gynaecological cancers can contact the Cancer Society Cancer Information Service on 0800 CANCER (226237)
