Museum Programme Coordinator



The Navy Museum's mission is to capture and preserve New Zealand's naval culture and heritage for current and future generations through collection, preservation, presentation, education, research and scholarship.

The Museum Programme Coordinator is a new role developed to meet the needs of the new Navy Museum located at Torpedo Bay Devonport and is a position critical to the success of the Museum as an outstanding visitor experience.

The Museum Programme Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of the education and visitor experience components of the Museum's public programmes; ensuring that outstanding levels of customer satisfaction are achieved and that the museum visitor receives consistently high standards in visitor experience, safety and security.

As the Museum Programme Coordinator you will need to:

  • Demonstrate experience in teaching and motivating a diverse range of students in various disciplines using a variety of artefacts and media
  • Demonstrate experience in the development and implementation of strategies designed to enhance education programmes and grow audiences within a museum or similar environment
  • Demonstrate experience with coordinating, developing and delivering education and visitor experience components of museum public programmes
  • Be self motivated with excellent planning and organisational skills especially project management skills; and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet timeframes and effectively manage changing priorities.
