Schick Civil was established in Hamilton in 1986 by LG and JH Schick, predominantly as a cartage and rural digger business. In 2001, Patrick Peoples purchased the company and, following a name change, a programme of significant growth in the wider civil construction industry was instigated. Schick Civil now have branches located in Hamilton, Auckland and Christchurch.

With a fleet of over 200 items of heavy plant and machinery, Schick has grown steadily over the past decade. We are still earthworks, drainage and roading specialists, however, we have added the attributes of local body and highway infrastructure works, subdivisions, retaining walls, minor bridge construction and repairs, coastal and river bank protection services also.

Schick has undertaken an array of large scale development projects, including premier subdivisions and NZTA roading projects in excess of $13m, while also successfully delivering numerous high profile large commercial and industrial site works sites around the greater Waikato.

Due to continued growth we are seeking a motivated Survey Technician to join our established survey team.

In your role as a survey technician you will be responsible for the delivery of site set out for projects, preparation of as built data along with calculation of volumes for monthly claims to assist in the delivery of civil projects, on time and within budget.

To maximise your success in this role the ideal candidate will have:
  • Proven hands-on civil construction experience in New Zealand
  • Experience using GPS set out, any Machine Control experience would be advantageous
  • Experience with LISCAD or 12D
  • Experience in Volume Computations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Possess a can-do attitude and be committed to quality works
  • Contribute to ensuring an ongoing safe culture is maintained across the company
  • Appropriate formal qualifications and/or training would be an advantage
  • NZ residency or a current valid NZ Work Visa and currently residing in NZ
